Spelling Frame

Spelling in the upper primary years is linked to vocabulary and it is important that children understand the meanings of the words they receive and how to use these words in their writing.  All children will be given a baseline assessment at the beginning of the Autumn term and weekly spellings will then be set on spelling frame to learn at home.

The best approach to learn spellings is to practice daily. A variety of methods will be taught in class.  Where children struggle with spellings, a separate or additional list may be given. Common words which are misspelt in books may also be sent home as part of the weekly spellings.
