Physical Education Statement of Intent

At our school, we provide a movement-focused Physical Education curriculum that places enjoyment, participation, and lifelong wellbeing at its heart. Our aim is to inspire children to develop a positive and healthy relationship with movement and physical activity, with fun serving as the foundation for all learning experiences.

We want our pupils to understand the many benefits of regular physical activity, including its positive impact on physical health, mental wellbeing, resilience, and concentration in the classroom. We also encourage children to recognise movement as an effective way to manage stress and support their overall wellbeing as they progress through their education and beyond.

Our curriculum offers opportunities for all pupils, regardless of ability, to engage in a wide range of physical activities. From recreational and social participation to competitive sport, we strive to ensure that every child can experience success and enjoyment. We recognise that every child is a unique child of God, gifted with different strengths, interests, and talents, and we celebrate these differences through a diverse and inclusive PE curriculum. Pupils will have the chance to demonstrate the Christian Values of the school by being encouraged to preserve, show resilience and respect and unlock their true potential.

We are committed to providing our pupils with SEND equal opportunities to participate fully in PE lessons, extracurricular activities, and sporting events. Through appropriate support, adaptation, and encouragement, we ensure that all children can access and benefit from high-quality physical education.

Ultimately, we hope that our pupils leave our school with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and enthusiasm to lead active, healthy lives and with a lasting love of physical activity and sport that they can carry forward into adulthood.
