Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools in England to help improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. Research shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds often face extra challenges in reaching their potential and may not perform as well as their peers.

The funding is allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who:

  • Are currently eligible for free school meals, or have been eligible at any point in the past six years (Ever 6 FSM),

  • Are or have been looked after by the local authority (Children Looked After), or

  • Have a parent serving in the armed forces (Service Premium).
