  • Back to school

    Mon 07 Sep 2020

We are so pleased to be back! We've missed all the children and the staff can't wait to get teaching again.

Please make sure you have read all the reopening guidance that has been sent and follow all the protocols we have in place. This makes it safe for children and staff.

  • School Expansion

    Thu 09 Jul 2020 H Obank

Our school is due to start an expansion project very soon.  We will be doubling in size from a 0.5FE school (15 children per year group) to a 1FE school (30 children per year group). This exciting change means that building work is due to start in October 2020 and take 10 months. 3 new classrooms will be built as well as a new library, technology room, new netball court and other work spaces.

  • Day 1 of home learning

    Mon 23 Mar 2020 H Obank

I hope you all enjoyed and had fun with day 1 of your home learning journey. I've seen lots of great pictures and videos of children's work and them having fun at home and I am so impressed! Phoebe and I have looked through the pictures on the website this afternoon and it has given us some ideas! Mrs Deverson had 90 pieces of work sent on see saw to review - I'm glad you are all keeping the teachers busy!

We opened today for a few key worker children. Please remember that this is the criteria of key worker children as written by the DfE:

Children with a parent or carer who is listed on the government’s critical worker list should be considered for a school place, so long as their job cannot be done from home.

Many parents working in these sectors will be able to ensure their child is kept at home. And every child who can be safely cared for at home should be, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.

Thank you for considering this before assuming your child can attend school.

Please do not worry about your children's education being compromised, every single child in the country (and the world) are in the same boat. We are here to support you through this difficult time with some learning, but do not feel pressured to complete it all. We understand that many of you are trying to work from home and are juggling 3 different aged children, with conference calls and constant emails ( or a similar situation). We understand that it is not easy. Just do your best.

The weeks ahead will have an impact on us all, so aim to do something uplifting which brings optimism so that your children remember this as a special positive family time, rather than fear and anxiety.

Best wishes - keep in touch

    Mrs Obank

  • School Closures

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I am sure you will have all heard the news this afternoon. Schools are to close from Friday afternoon for the near future. This is not surprising news, but I am sure it is concerning for you all, as it is for school staff.

Over the next 2 days, we will be putting more plans in place to support home learning and will further develop our home learning protocols.

The advice from the government is to try to look after children of key workers and vulnerable children. At the moment this is defined as NHS staff, police, supermarket delivery drivers, care workers and children with EHCPs or with a social worker. If you fall into these categories and you would require your child to attend school, please contact the school as soon as possible, and by TOMORROW MORNING at 10am at the latest. This information is crucial to enable us to draw up plans to keep school open for these children. Please be aware we are waiting for more guidance from the government.

You can email or ring school first thing in the morning on 01277 353160 or admin@mountnessing.essex.sch.uk

    Many thanks

  • Home learning

    Fri 13 Mar 2020

Please find all aspects of home learning, where it is necessary, on the class pages.

Please contact your child's class teacher for advice on any of the tasks should you need it.

    Thanks for all your support.

  • Reading Challenge

    Fri 06 Mar 2020 H Obank
Today is the launch of our whole school reading challenge. How many different genres can you read from? Try and read at least 3 books from each genre. You can read some of the examples or choose your own? Who will read the most? Who will expand their interests? Who can develop a new passion for reading? ENJOY!
  • Baby News!

    Fri 28 Feb 2020 H Obank

Mrs Deneys has given birth to a beautiful baby boy called Arlo over the half term holiday. He weighed 10lb 15oz and we are so happy for her. We can't wait to meet him.

    Congratulations!

  • Young Voices at the O2

    Thu 06 Feb 2020 H Obank

We took 11 children to the O2 on Monday to take part in the Young Voices choir. The children had a great time and were soooooo well behaved! They sang the songs, danced the dances and smiled the biggest smiles throughout the whole day! They were full of enthusiasm and energy right until the very end. The coach journey home sent some to sleep, but it was 11pm! Thank you to Mrs McDonald for volunteering to come with us - we really appreciate your help.

  • After school club

    Thu 05 Dec 2019 H Obank

We have plans for complete wraparound care! An after school club is coming to Mountnessing School!

From September 2020 we will offer an after school club, along side our breakfast club, to ensure parents and carers have full provision of care from 8am (maybe earlier) until 6pm.

At the moment, we have plans to add another building on our lower site which would house the after school club. This will be part funded by ECC and we are currently at the feasibility study stage. If this building is not in place by September, we will still run an after school provision in a classroom or the hall until we have a more permanent solution.
