Community Links

Linking with our community is important to the staff and pupils at Mountnessing C of E Primary School.

We try to join with local groups as much as we can to show our pupils that reaching out to support others is part of being a good Christian.

Recently we have linked with the local 'Forget-me-not' club that meets every Monday in St Johns Church Hall.

This group was started by Tracy Godden and Leah Farrell as a way of helping the elderly in the community and their carers. With mental health services being cut and carers in need of vital support, they decided to offer somewhere for carers to take their elderly loved ones to socialise, enjoy a meal together, and take part in fun activities. Our children join in with activities with the elderly which links the 2 generations together and they all have a lot of fun. On our most recent visit, the children decorated pumpkins together.

We visit the senior citizens club at the local village hall too. We perform our Christmas songs at their annual Christmas party, and they always compliment the children on their singing and their behaviour.

We invite the parish into school regularly to take part in events we hold throughout the year. We host a MacMillan Coffee Morning every September which always raises lots of money, as well as the Christmas Fayre and Summer Fete.

We are proud supporters of Kids Inspire. This is a charity that supports children in Essex who are having a difficult time and need some support. We pay in for their services, which allows us to refer children in need to them directly. We also fundraise annually for Kids Inspire as the money we raise supports our pupils directly and those of the wider Brentwood area. Please visit their website for more information https://kidsinspire.org.uk/
